On the subject of Generators. Fairhaven is purchasing our first EVER Pierce pumper. We want to have the generator mounted in the cargo area next to the booster reel above the pump panel. Wanted to hear from anyone who already has this configuration and know what wattage, what you run off the power, and good or bad comments about it! Thanks for making a place to do this Britt!

COMM Fire has this on the 2 new pumpers and on the ladder. All 3 are Pierce. it works out very well and the run off of the diesel tank. The same tank used by the truck itself.I think you are Brian and you know Dave our mechanic so ask him about it I'm sure he can help you out.JPD

Thats me JD, the diesel generators that pierce offers are not what we are putting in, the cost is too high, so we are taking a gasoline powered honda and putting it up there. It also allows commonality among our other trucks. The configuration you guys have is the best way, but we just dont have the funds to do that... its about a 8 thousand dollar difference between the diesel and the drop in gas job.

HAVE YOU CONSIDERED HYDRAULIC GENERATORS? WE HAVE HARRISON 10KW HYDRAULIC GEN. ON BOTH ENGINES AND HAVE WORKED FLAWLESSLY. NOT SURE OF PRICE COMPARISON WITH WESTEBEKE DIESEL THOUGH

We started with hydraulic, went to diesel, and are now left with externally mounted gas.... prices are several thousand dollars difference between the first two and the third, we saved almost 8 grand that we put into other things.
Our issue is that the engineers are saying there is not enough clearance to mount a gas gen in the dunnage area. It needs more airflow ...
